“Hope” is the thing with feathers-
That perches in the soul-
And sings the tune without the words-
And never stops-at all-

Member, New England Recovery Associates
I have been working in the social services field for over fifteen years, beginning as a residential counselor at a psychiatric group home and culminating in the opening of my own private practice in 2015. Over the course of that time I also earned a Masters degree in English literature from Simmons College in 2005 and a Social Work degree from Boston University in 2010. My specialty is to support you as you make changes to overcome behaviors such as sexual addiction. This supportive therapy focuses on identifying and using healthy behaviors. These healthy behaviors will loosen the grip that addiction might have on your life.

My goal is to provide comprehensive individual and couples psychotherapy services that address the many intricate nuances and consequences of sex addiction, including compulsive sexual behavior, pornography use, cybersex, shame, internet addiction and betrayal trauma. I operate from the assumption that most addictions stem from early traumatic experiences and attachment ruptures. Addiction is often the solution for intimacy that has been thwarted, relational bonds that have been injured, and desire and safety that has remained unfulfilled. I will work with you on ways you can achieve emotional comfort, intimacy in relationships, and the ability for healthy expressions of sexuality. I am trained to address many conditions that often accompany sex addiction including anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and trauma.

Through our work together I hope to establish an atmosphere of trust, safety, and comfort that can give rise to new personal insights and the opportunity to take and practice “safe risks” in relationships. By selectively utilizing Cognitive Behavioral therapy, trauma informed therapy, EMDR therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I hope to address the situations and conditions that have prevented you from leading a life of your own choosing.
